NCAA Division III Championships at The College of New Jersey (March 3-4, 2006)

Ben Dictus went 0-2 at 184 pounds. Dictus faced top seed Duane Bastress of York College in the first match and lost 11-3. Dictus was then eliminated with a 15-6 loss to Terry Madden of Hunter College.


Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at UW-Eau Claire (February 19, 2006)

Ben Dictus qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the third consecutive season after finishing second at 184 pounds. Dictus lost to Jason Lulloff of UW-La Crosse 10-1 in the title match, but then defeated Mike Schmidt of UW-Whitewater 5-3 in the second-place match. Dictus will wrestle at the NCAA Championships at the College of New Jersey on March 3-4. Lawrence finished seventh in the team standings with 58 points, and La Crosse won the title with 159. Other Lawrence wrestlers and their finishes on the day: James Williamson (125, fourth), Tony Norton (141, fourth), Chandler Bellanca (157, 0-2), Joe Austin (165, fifth), John Budi (174, fourth), Scott Polewach (197, fifth), and Kenny Hamm (285, 0-2).

John Budi and Ben Dictus won titles for the Vikings, who finished fourth in the team standings in the eight-team meet. Budi 3-0 on the day with a pin to win at 174. He beat Tim Vallier of Lakeland 5-0 in the title match. Dictus also was 3-0 with a pin and beat Adam Schultz of Concordia (Wis.) 5-0 in the championship match. Tony Norton went 3-1 on the day and took third place at 141. He beat Ryan Forbes of MSOE 4-2 in the third-place match. Joe Austin took fourth at 165 with a 2-2 record. He lost to Cody Klopp of Lakeland 8-7 in the third place match. Kenny Hamm took third at heavyweight and was 3-1 with two pins. He beat Allan Lick of Millikin 2-1 in the third-place match. Ben Dictus took second place at 184 pounds to pace the Vikings. Dictus posted three wins to reach the finals, beating fifth-ranked Mike Troutman of Ursinus 3-1 in the semifinals. Seventh-ranked Dan Willaert of St. John's defeated Dictus 5-2 in the championship match. John Budi placed third at 174 pounds and had a 5-1 record on the day. Budi pinned John Rudell of John Carroll in 2:35 in the third-place match.
