APPLETON, Wis. -- The St. Norbert College women's basketball team used a balanced attack and tough defense to beat Lawrence University 67-34 in a Midwest Conference game Tuesday at Alexander Gymnasium.
Emily Otzelberger led St. Norbert with 10 points and Denise Heuser had nine. Rachel Hermus pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for St. Norbert (14-3, 9-2 MWC).
Laura Aerts scored a game-high 13 points to pace Lawrence (2-15, 0-11). Aerts enjoyed a good shooting night, hitting 4 of 8 shots from the floor, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. That was the exception for Lawrence, which shot 25.5 percent from the floor for the game.
The Vikings led early and the game was close midway through the first half. Nakita Chadwick's jumper with 11:20 left in the opening half cut St. Norbert's lead to 14-10.
St. Norbert then scored the game's next 20 points to grab a 34-10 lead with 3:37 left in the first half. Katie Condon's layup with 3:22 left in the first half finally broke a 7:58 scoreless streak.
The Green Knights would lead 36-17 at the half. St. Norbert led by 20-plus points for much of the second half, and the biggest lead was 35 in the game's final minute.
Lawrence returns to action on Friday when it hosts Illinois College.
