St. Norbert uses big second half to down Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. -- The St. Norbert College women's basketball team pulled away early in the second half and went on to a 67-31 Midwest Conference win at Lawrence University on Saturday.

St. Norbert (18-4, 14-1 MWC) clinched hosting the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament on Feb. 27-28 with the victory.

Denise Heuser scored nine points to pace the Green Knights, and Rachel Hermus and Jamie Kuhl added eight points apiece. Erin Henzi tied for top game scoring honors and paced Lawrence (0-21, 0-14) with nine points.

The Green Knights pulled away to a 22-6 lead, but Lawrence battled back in the first half. Henzi scored the game's next seven points to trim St. Norbert's lead to 33-13 with 3:13 left. St. Norbert then scored the half's final four points and led 26-13 at the break.

The Green Knights then opened the second half with an 18-2 scoring run to take a 44-15 lead with 11:56 left. Lawrence could get no closer than 27 points the rest of the way, and St. Norbert would lead by as many as 40 in in the final minute.

Lawrence wraps up the home portion of its season schedule when it hosts Beloit College on Wednesday.
