SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- The Northland College women's basketball team scored the game's first 14 points and went on to a 75-54 nonconference win over Lawrence University in Saturday's consolation game of the Lakeland College Tip-Off Tournament.
Northland (2-3) got a game-high 18 points from Chelsea Lundgren. Laura Aerts paced three Vikings (0-3) in double figures with 12 points. Erin Henzi added 11 points, and Katie Van Es had 10. America McClure pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for Lawrence.
It took Lawrence 5:25 to get its first points of the game, a layup from Henzi, but the Lumberjills had grabbed a 14-2 lead at that point. The Vikings battled back throughout the first half and trimmed the margin to 30-23 on a pair of Katie Condon free throws with 1:03 left in the first half. Northland led 35-25 at the break.
Van Es' jumper with 18:00 left cut the lead to 37-29, but that's as close as the Vikings would get. Northland answered with a 9-2 run to go up 46-31, and Lawrence never got closer than 11 points after that.
Lawrence returns to action when it travels to Marian University on Nov. 25.
