MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Monmouth College women's basketball team pulled away midway through the first half and never looked back en route to a 63-44 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University on Friday night.
Erin Henzi scored a game-high 17 points for Lawrence (0-12, 0-5 MWC). Lynsey Barnard paced Monmouth (7-5, 2-3) with 16 points in only 20 minutes of action.
The game was tied 6-6 after Laura Aerts hit a 3-pointer with 13:58 left in the first half. The Scots then scored the game's next 12 points, six by Barnard, to take an 18-6 edge with 7:44 left in the opening half.
Henzi finally stopped the run with a 3-pointer, and she finished 4 of 5 from beyond the arc on the night.
The Scots countered by ending the first half on a 10-2 run to lead 30-11 at the break. Monmouth would go on to lead by as many as 32 points in the second half.
Lawrence travels to Lake Forest College on Saturday to wrap up a weekend road trip.
