APPLETON, Wis. -- The Macalester College women's basketball team raced out to an 11-point lead in the first six minutes and went on to a 77-34 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Saturday.
Trina PaStarr posted a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds to pace the Scots (1-0). Eartha Bell added 12 points and Holly Schiedermayer had 11. Laura Aerts and Erin Henzi scored seven points apiece to lead the Vikings (0-1).
Macalester pulled out to a 13-2 lead with 14:23 left in the first half and never looked back. PaStarr had eight points in the first half, as the Scots built a 44-12 lead at the half.
Macalester led by as many as 44 points several times in the second half.
The Scots hit 44.2 percent of their shots from the floor and had a 60-30 edge on the glass. Lawrence shot only 27.7 percent for the game, including 18.2 percent on 3-pointers.
Lawrence returns to action at Lakeland College on Nov. 21.
