SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team hung with Lakeland College until the Muskies pulled away in the final five minutes to post an 84-62 nonconference win in the Lakeland Tip-Off Tournament on Friday.
Lawrence (0-2) will take on Northland College in Saturday's consolation game. Lakeland (2-0) faces Cornell College in the championship game.
Erin Henzi scored a career-high 25 points to pace Lawrence, and Laura Aerts added a career-high 20 for the Vikings. Henzi hit 9 of 16 shots from the floor and was 7 of 7 from the four line. Becca Paulson led five Lakeland players in double figures with 20 points. Lakeland did most of its damage behind the 3-point line, hitting 13 of 25 shots from beyond the arc.
The Vikings trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half, but Lawrence battled back and trailed 38-26 at the half.
Lawrence went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by Sam Nimmer's 3-pointer, to cut the lead to 47-41 with 14:00 left in the game. The Muskies rebuilt the lead to as many as 13, but a jumper by Aerts and a pair of free throws from Henzi trimmed the margin to 66-56 with 4:54 left.
The Muskies then went on a 17-2 run over the next 3:21 to pull away.
K.C. Blahnik had a double-double for Lakeland with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
