GALESBURG, Ill. -- Erin Navolio recorded a double-double, and the Knox College women's basketball team downed Lawrence University 59-48 in a Midwest Conference game on Saturday.
Navolio had game highs with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Knox (5-14, 2-10 MWC). Erin Henzi paced Lawrence (0-20, 0-13) with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Knox led by as many as seven points midway through the first half, but the Vikings rallied to take the lead. Lawrence went on an 11-3 run, capped by America McClure's jumper, to grab a 20-18 lead with 4:06 left before the break. Knox then scored the final five points of the half to lead 24-20 at the break.
Knox built its lead to as many as nine points early in the second half, but the Vikings scored eight straight points, capped by Henzi's jumper, to cut the lead to 37-35 with 10:23 left. Knox countered with a 10-2 run to take a 37-37 lead with 4:21 left.
Lawrence could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
The Vikings return to action next Saturday when they host St. Norbert College.
