JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Illinois College women's basketball team pulled away early and went on to a 72-44 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Friday night.
Candy Norville and Rachel Macon scored 16 points apiece and Denise Pachlhofer added 15 to lead Illinois College (11-7, 6-5 MWC). Laura Aerts tied her career high with 20 points to pace Lawrence (0-19, 0-12).
It took Illinois College less than 10 minutes to build a double-digit lead, and the Lady Blues then outscored the Vikings 13-2 over the final 5:02 of the first half. That scoring run helped the Lady Blues to a 41-18 lead at the break.
The Vikings were not able to make a strong run at Illinois College in the second half, and the Lady Blues led by as many as 36 points.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Knox College.
