Illinois College holds off Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Illinois College women's basketball team held off a determined Lawrence University squad on Saturday to post a 68-60 Midwest Conference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.

Denise Pachlhofer led Illinois College (4-2, 1-1 MWC) with 14 points. Erin Henzi paced Lawrence (0-6, 0-2) and all scorers with 20 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Laura Aerts and Katie Van Ess had 12 points apiece.

Pachlhofer scored nine points in the first half, as the Lady Blues built a 36-21 lead at the break. Illinois College then scored the first 10 points of the second half to take a 46-21 lead with 17:11 left in the game.

The Vikings then started chipping away at the lead. Henzi scored eight points and Van Es had six, as the Vikings went on a 20-3 run to trim the advantage to 49-41 with 10:39 left.

Lawrence turnovers on the next three possessions swung the momentum back to Illinois College, with the Lady Blues scoring the game's next six points to regain control.

Illinois College built the lead back to 17 points before Lawrence scored the game's final nine points for the final margin.

Lawrence is back in action on Dec. 15-16 when it plays in the Hope College Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
