What are the coolest things about being a part of L.U.S.T.?

For me, the coolest thing about being a member of LUST is that I am just a small piece of the team puzzle.  Without me or any other member, the team is not complete. Like a puzzle piece, every member is an individual.  But when we all get together, we become something greater than ourselves.  We become LUST. --Sam Szynskie '09

The feeling of satisfaction knowing that I'm doing my best individually while being a part of the time.  Also, looking great in my underwear!

The best things about being apart of LUST are the friendships made and good times had on and off the deck. Besides training and goal-oriented activities, these trips are all about team bonding!
--Sarah "Bear" Mohrmann '08

What is the best memory from this last season?

Definitely my best on-deck memory was watching Coach get pushed in the water after he was awarded Men's Coach of the Year at the Midwest Conference Championships.
More behind the scenes, I really enjoyed all the team dinners at Downer every night, as well as team pancake breakfasts on several Sunday mornings after meets during the season.-Anna "Banana" Kiel '06

My best memory from the past season was in Florida, spending time with all the new freshman and really seeing them become part of the team, opening up and forming friendships with the upperclassmen. ~Meghan Frear '08

Chrissie and I swam the most yardage of the team in Florida. Finishing 60,101 yards and knowing that I put in the extra effort made me feel so proud of myself. It was awesome that we did it together because we were able to push each other when we needed it. This is just another example of how teammates help out so much.

What is your greatest accomplishment as a member of LUST?

Definitely knowing NOT to quit anything
-Celine Kitzenberg '07

I feel like it is an accomplishment in itself being a member of LUST. It is very hard getting used to college life and all the challenges. Being a freshman taking rigorous college classes for the first time, being away from family AND being on a varsity team is a big accomplishment when you can do everything successfully. -Lisa Eddy '09

Being there for the team always.  By no mean am I a great swimmer, but I do what I am able to do, contributing both in the water and on deck with tasks ... - Daniel Martin '07

Expanding my capabilities as a leader. I think that the coaches expect a lot out of the divers and I believe that this season, especially, I have been able to take better control of the divers... -Marissa Vallette '08

Why did you perform so well this past season?

...hard work, dedication, but most of all a GOOD ATTITUDE and believing that I CAN

Encouragement, Good Coaching and  having plenty of Good examples to follow. – Matt Anderson '09

I performed well this past season because of the family-like relationship that I felt was formed early on this season. - Hayley Vatch '09

I performed well this season at conference because I decided to swim with heart (as oppose to my left foot :) ).  After not having the best season last year, I was set to prove to myself I could accel at the collegiate level of swimming. I concentrated on one race at a time, if I had a bad race, I pouted (just for a little bit), but then stepped up to the block for the next race, with my heart taking its mark, not my head. – Mollie Bodin '08

I think I performed so well this season because of the motivation I got from my coach and teammates.  I think that I had such a change of atmosphere in swimming, I went from being a super competitive age group swimmer, to a super competitive college swimmer, except that I trained more and had more fun as a member of lust.  It was so great to go to the conference meet and have almost every single member of the team behind my lane or cheering for me, it made all the difference when I was done.  And my times dropped like no other, which was a really big confidence booster.  I can’t wait until next season! – Chrissie Nelson '09

I didn't necessarily put in more yards every week than I normally do but, I made sure to be at practice consistantly (everyday) and to make every yard count.  I tried to stay focused on my season goals and, of course, have a good time, which always makes the season go better! – Marianne Griffin '08
