I am currently finishing off the recruit
year for the 2003 season. Within the next month, all of the swimmers I have
spent recruiting this past year will be graduating and looking forward to
the next step of their life—higher education. It has been a successful year
as about a dozen men and women will be matriculating here to Lawrence and
our program in the fall. However, enough about them, my attention is now
turning to you – next year’s seniors and 2004 college-bound athletes.
This is the way the recruiting picture looks
from my perspective—the Lawrence Swimming Way. I have currently, to date,
received close to 500 questionaires and inquiries about our swim program. I
have already initiated phone calls and emails to many who have requested a
contact from me and plan to call as many prospective recruits over the next
few months as I can. Consequently, if you would like to talk with me,
please contact me by email with your questions and requests. I will move
you to the front of the line.
Other ways to find out about our great
university and swim program are to follow the many great postal mailings,
e-mailings and calls that you will be receiving over the next few weeks. I
intend on sending out more e-mailings over the summer just like this one.
Lastly, a great way to discover Lawrence firsthand is with a visit. See
Summer Visit Days
on the Directory of Related Links page on the side (just click on it). If
you are unable to make one of these days and would like to set-up a visit
during the summer just e-mail me in advance and I can tell you if I am going
to be on campus then call Admissions at 1-800-227-0982.
What you can expect on your visit?
Typically, I speak to prospective recruits for around an hour explaining all
the things involved with being a part of our program and answering any
questions. Additionally, you will receive a tour of the campus and talk
with an admissions counselor. While visiting, don’t forget to browse our
team handbook as it has many answers to questions you will forget to ask.
You can pick up a copy to view while on campus at the Rec Center front desk
(building the pool is located). Since Lawrence does not host classes
during the summer you would need to schedule a trip in the fall to attend an
actual class.
So that’s how we “roll out that red carpet”
for you over the summer!
