Head Coach Jon Sheridan

Jonathon Sheridan returned to Lawrence University in 2014 to coach two sports. Sheridan serves as Lawrence's head golf coach and assistant hockey coach.

Sheridan, a 2011 Lawrence graduate, is an avid golfer and was a standout hockey player for the Vikings. He returned to Lawrence after two seasons coaching the American Collegiate Hockey Association team at Ohio University. Sheridan was the head coach in 2013-14 after serving as the assistant coach in 2012-13.

Sheridan was named the Central States Collegiate Hockey League Coach of the Year after his team finished second in the regular season this past season. The Bobcats put together a 30-8-3 record and played in the ACHA national tournament. Ohio went all the way to the semifinals of the national tournament and won the CSCHL Tournament in 2012-13.

A native of Midland, Mich., Sheridan played three seasons as a defenseman at Lawrence. Lawrence won 40 games in those three seasons and took the 2008-09 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Northern Division title. Sheridan, who had six goals and 16 assists for 22 points during his time at Lawrence, served as team captain and was named to the MCHA All-Tournament team in 2011.

An Academic All-MCHA selection while at Lawrence, Sheridan earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his master’s degree in coaching education from Ohio University in 2013.

Assistant Coach Chris Burns

It's not an exaggeration to say that Chris Burns was born with a golf club in his hands.

Burns was born and raised in the golf industry and has a lifetime of experience teaching and club fitting. He has worked with his father in the golf business since he was a child. The Burns family owns and operates nearby Bob Burns Golf and Learning Center in Appleton where Chris is the director of instruction.

Burns started at Lawrence as an assistant golf coach in fall of 2010 and was named the interim head coach in spring 2014.

In his spare time, Burns writes and produces instructional golf videos and product reviews for his blog and company website. In spring 2014, his first eBook, Recipe for Inspired Golf, was published.

A 2000 graduate of Ferris State University, Burns offers a wealth of knowledge and passion for teaching and club fitting. He has more than 15 years of teaching experience and more than 20 years in club making and club fitting. Burns also has worked with some of the game's most reputable instructors, including Rick Smith and Dennis Tiziani.

Burns resides in Appleton with his wife, Tina, and son, Cameron.
