Luther pulls away from Lawrence

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Luther College softball team scored the game's final 10 runs to post an 11-2 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Monday.

Lawrence (3-3) led 2-1 after three innings. The Vikings got a run in the first on Alex Goodson's RBI single and added another in the third on Carli Gurholt's run-scoring single.

The Norse took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth against Goodson, who allowed eight runs on six hits in 4.1 innings. Luther scored the four runs on only two hits, as the Vikings committed two errors in the inning.

Luther (9-3) added three more runs in the fifth, with Kelsey Hake and Tiffany Kruse both picking up run-scoring doubles. Luther put the game away with three more runs in the sixth. Tami Magnar had the big blow in the inning with a two-run double.

Shallyn Duffy picked up the win by allowing two runs on four hits in three innings.
