APPLETON, Wis. -- Jason Scheper scored 36 points to lead seven Carroll College players in double figures Friday night in a 153-127 win over Grinnell College in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament at Alexander Gymnasium.
No. 15 Carroll (21-3) advances to face No. 1-ranked Lawrence University (23-0) in Saturday's championship game at 3:00 p.m. The Vikings defeated Knox College 88-62 in the other semifinal.
John Grotberg led Grinnell (14-9) and all scorers with 39 points.
Grotberg's 3-pointer gave Grinnell a 38-32 lead with 8:38 left in the first half. Grinnell missed its next four shots, and by that time Carroll had a 43-38 lead.
Carroll pulled away in the final three minutes of the first half. Carroll went on a 20-6 run over the last 3:03 and led 81-60 at the half.
Grinnell never got closer than 21 points in the second half.
