MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team built a huge first-half lead and rolled to a 90-63 Midwest Conference win over Monmouth College on Friday night.
Ryan Kroeger scored 20 points to lead four Lawrence players in double figures. Jayce Apelgren and John Dekker added 12 points apiece, and Doug Kadison had 10 for the Vikings (8-4, 4-1 MWC). Corey Turner paced Monmouth (4-8, 1-4) with 18 points.
Chris Page scored six points early as Lawrence jumped to an 11-1 lead with 13:30 left in the first half. The Scots battled back, and Lawrence led 19-11 midway through the first half.
The Vikings finished the first half by outscoring Monmouth 28-13 over the final 9:50. Lawrence showed its depth during that stretch, with nine different players scoring in that run.
Lawrence would lead by as many as 35 points in the second half.
Fifteen players saw action for the Vikings, with 11 scoring at least three points. Jamie DeMatthew scored a season-high nine points, and Kadison pulled down a season-best six rebounds.
Lawrence finishes its weekend road trip with a visit to Lake Forest College on Saturday.
