RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Ben Rosenblatt hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds left to clinch the Lawrence University men's basketball team's 72-68 victory over Concordia (Ill.) University in the River Forest Classic on Saturday.
Chris Page scored 15 points and John Dekker came off the bench to score 14 for the Vikings (2-0). Ryan Ward scored 16 points for Concordia (0-2).
Lawrence grabbed its biggest of the opening half when Jayce Apelgren drained a pair of free throws with two seconds left for a 37-26 advantage at the break.
Rosenblatt opened the second half with a 3-pointer to put the Vikings up by 14, and that would be Lawrence's biggest lead of the night. Lawrence led by 11 when Dekker hit a 3-pointer with 5:15 left in the game, but Concordia made one final run.
The Cougars went on a 9-1 run, capped by Justin Gray's free throw with 3:41 left, to cut the lead to 63-60. Lawrence held that three-point edge until Morgan Bond hit a pair of free throws with 41 seconds remaining to trim the advantage to 69-68.
Rosenblatt then took a pass from Page and drained a 3-pointer on the next possession to seal the victory for the Vikings.
Lawrence returns to action on Nov. 30 when it travels to Lake Forest College to start Midwest Conference play.
