BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team pulled away from Beloit College early in the second half Tuesday and rolled to an 85-64 Midwest Conference victory over the Buccaneers at Flood Arena.
Lawrence (8-1, 4-0 MWC) remained alone in first place in the MWC and ran its win streak against the Bucs (2-10, 0-5) to 12 games.
Four Vikings scored in double figures, with Andy Hurley and Ryan Kroeger each scoring a game-high 16 points. Ben Rosenblatt added 12 points and Doug Kadison had 11 points and a game-high eight assists for the Vikings.
Patrick Kenny led Beloit with 15 points and Bob Wimmer added 13.
The game was tied at 13-13 when John Dekker hit a 3-pointer to give the Vikings the lead for good with 12:47 left in the first half. Beloit kept it close until late in the opening half. With the Vikings leading 34-29 with 1:12 left, Hurley had back-to-back layups and Kadison got another layup at the buzzer to give the Vikings a 40-29 lead at the break.
Wimmer got the first basket of the first half to cut the lead back to 40-31, but Lawrence went on a 15-3 run to take complete control. Rosenblatt, Kadison, and Kroeger all hit 3-pointers during the decisive outburst that gave the Vikings a 55-31 lead with 14:53 remaining.
Beloit never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
Lawrence returns to action Friday and Saturday at home when it hosts Grinnell College and Knox College.
