APPLETON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Superior hockey team scored four consecutive goals in the second period and went on to a 6-2 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Saturday at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
Tyler Fletcher had a natural hat trick with three consecutive goals in the second period for 14th-ranked Superior (3-2-0). Marc Howe scored both goals for Lawrence (4-1-0).
Superior led 1-0 after the first period, but Howe turned the tables on the Yellowjackets in the first half of the second period.
Howe took a feed from Jim Crowley and scored just 1:06 into the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Howe then gave Lawrence a 2-1 lead when he scored with 9:31 left in the period off passes from Jon Sheridan and Scott Minarcik.
Superior took advantage of a power-play chance and tied the game at 2-2 on Art Clark's goal at 11:41. Fletcher then scored just nine seconds later and Superior had the lead for good at 3-2.
Fletcher also picked up goals at 15:06 and 17:27 of the second to give the Yellowjackets a 5-2 lead after two periods. Jesse Junkermeier added a goal midway through the third period to close out the scoring.
Jim Patterson stopped 28 shots to pick up the win for Superior. Evan Johnson made 23 saves for Lawrence and took the loss. Michael Baldino made his collegiate debut in goal for the Vikings and stopped all six shots he faced.
