DULUTH, Minn. -- The Lawrence University hockey team took No. 1-ranked St. Norbert College to the limit on Friday, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Green Knights Friday at the Thanksgiving Weekend Showcase.
After the game went scoreless through the first two periods, St. Norbert (9-0-1) scored both of its goals in a span of 1:45 early in the third period.
Kyle Stroh scored just 42 seconds into the third period, and Tyler Allen added a second goal at the 2:27 mark.
Lawrence (6-2-0) battled back when Ben DiMarco scored at 6:02 of the third off passes from Marc Howe and Gustav Ahlberg.
Lawrence pulled goaltender Evan Johnson late in the contest, but the Vikings could not get the equalizer against B.J. O'Brien with the extra attacker on the ice.
O'Brien made 20 saves to pick up the win. Johnson took the loss despite stopping 37 of the Green Knights' 39 shots.
Lawrence faces the host school, the College of St. Scholastica, on Saturday.
