ADRIAN, Mich. -- Brad Houston and Shawn Skelly both had hat tricks, and the Adrian College hockey team posted a 10-3 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Lawrence University on Friday night.
Adrian (13-3-0, 11-0-0 MCHA) scored the game's first six goals and never looked back. Jameson Raymond, Gustaf Ahlberg and Marc Howe all scored for Lawrence (7-7-1, 6-3-1).
The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie by scoring three times in a stretch of 5:28 midway through the first period. Adrian made it 6-0 with three goals in the first 9:29 of the second period.
In a game marred by 38 penalties, 19 on each team, Adrian went 4-for-8 on the power play. Lawrence was 2-for-9 on the man-advantage.
Brad Fogel played the first two-plus periods in goal and picked up the win for Adrian. Michael Baldino came on in relief of Evan Johnson and took the loss.
The teams finish the series Saturday afternoon.
