DiMarco's goal in final seconds gives Lawrence win over Raiders

APPLETON, Wis. -- Ben DiMarco's first collegiate goal was a dramatic one.

DiMarco scored with eight seconds left in regulation to lift the Lawrence University hockey team to a 1-0 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association victory Saturday night over the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The freshman forward from Galveston, Texas, picked up a MSOE turnover in the neutral zone and beat Raiders goaltender Connor Toomey for the game's only goal on a breakaway.

Lawrence (1-4-0, 1-3-0 MCHA) had to kill off three penalties in the third period before DiMarco delivered the game-winner. MSOE was 0-for-6 on the power play on the evening, and the Vikings were 0-for-4.

The Vikings got a stellar performance from sophomore goaltender Evan Johnson, who stopped 30 shots for his second career shutout and first of the season. Toomey made 27 saves for the Raiders (3-3-0, 2-2-0).

Lawrence returns to action next weekend when it hosts the University of Minnesota-Crookston in a two-game series.
