Foresters top Lawrence

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University hockey team fired 53 shots at Scott Campbell on Tuesday, but only one got past the Lake Forest College goaltender in the Foresters' 5-1 nonconference victory over the Vikings.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Lawrence (3-5-0).

Lake Forest (3-8-0) got on the board with Mike Kneeland's goal just 6:19 into the game. The Foresters made it 2-0 early in the second period before Lawrence cut the lead in half.

Scott Minarcik scored off assists from Jonathon Sheridan and Masa Takahashi at 10:57 of the second to make it 2-1. The Forester got that goal back less than four minutes later when Peter Morrison scored.

The Forester then added a pair of third-period goals to seal the victory.

Campbell made 52 saves to pick up the win for Lake Forest. Jim Ryan stopped 25 of 30 shots and took the loss.

Lawrence returns to action this weekend at the Thanksgiving Showcase at St. Norbert College.
