GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Jeremy Dawes' goal 20 seconds into overtime lifted the College of St. Scholastica to a 4-3 victory over Lawrence University on Friday at the Thanksgiving Showcase.
Lawrence (3-6) battled back to tie the game twice, the second time on Nick Jennette's goal with just 21 seconds left in regulation.
The Saints (6-3-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Daman Milsom and Joey Martini in the first period. Milsom's goal at 12:26 snapped the scoreless streak of Lawrence goaltender Evan Johnson at 192:26.
Jon Sacks cut that lead in half midway through the second period when he scored off an assist from Sam Johnson.
After St. Scholastica's Kelly Reynolds got sent off for cross checking as time expired in the second period, the Vikings tied the score. Marc Howe's unassisted goal on the power play 1:53 into the third to knot the score at 2-2.
The Saints took the lead back on A.J. Tucker's goal 7:13 into the third. The score stayed that way until the Vikings pulled Johnson for an extra attacker with 46 seconds left.
Jennette took a pass from Mike Ackley and beat Steve Bounds to send the game into overtime.
The first shot of the overtime proved to be the game-winner, as Dawes scored off assists from Martini and Tucker.
Johnson made 24 saves for Lawrence, which outshot St. Scholastica 32-28.
The Vikings take on defending national champion St. Norbert College on Saturday at the Thanksgiving Showcase, which is being played at the Cornerstone Community Center.
