CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Jacob Osland's goal early in the third period held up as the difference as the University of Minnesota-Crookston defeated Lawrence University 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Crookston Civic Center.
Lawrence (1-5-1, 1-4-0 MCHA) saw its conference losing streak grow to four games with the defeat. Crookston (2-6-0, 1-4-0) picked up its first league win of the season in five tries.
Brent Groenke got the offense started for the Golden Eagles when he scored on the power play jsut 4:31 into the game. The score remained the same until Marc Howe tied it for Lawrence at 7:00 of the second period on an even-strength goal.
Nick Jennette, who had assisted on Howe's goal, then put the Vikings ahead with a short-handed goal midway through the second period. It's was Lawrence's first short-handed goal of the season. The lead didn't last for long, as Ryan Tucker scored just 1:26 later to tie the game at 2-2.
Osland then took a pass from Teal Plaine and scored the game-winning goal at 2:41 in the third period.
Lawrence outshot Crookston 47-31, and Eric Everson made 45 saves to get the win for the Golden Eagles. Evan Johnson took the loss for Lawrence.
