APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University baseball team dropped a Midwest Conference doubleheader to Carroll College on Sunday, as the Pioneers won 12-6 and 14-2.
Carroll (9-20, 4-10 MWC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first game and never looked back. The Pioneers pounded out 17 hits against three Lawrence pitchers in the opener.
Chris Elliott paced Carroll by going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Jimmy Marlin went 3-for-4 and scored three times for the Pioneers in the opener.
Tommy Schmidt, Doug McEneaney, and Tim Salm all had three hits for Lawrence (10-17, 4-10) in the opener. Adam Fritsch also belted a homer for Lawrence.
In the nightcap, Carroll led 3-1 heading into the fourth and scored 10 runs in the next three innings to pull away. Marlin, Andy Sturtevant, and Dan Ryan all had three hits for Carroll. Sturtevant, who hit a two-run homer, finished with four RBIs.
McEneaney and Wes Otte had two hits apiece for Lawrence, and Otte smacked a solo homer.
