Vikings drop pair to Wisconsin Lutheran

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Lutheran College rallied for a victory in game one and got a three-hitter from Austin Backhaus in game two to sweep a nonconference doubleheader from Lawrence Univeristy on Tuesday.

Lawrence (12-14) built a 3-1 lead in the opener by scoring three times in the third inning without a hit. Wisconsin Lutheran starter Josh Lemke walked three in the inning, and the Warriors committed an error.

The Warriors took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth when the they scored four times against Lawrence starter Kevin Penza. Wisconsin Lutheran (10-24) added three more runs in the sixth to seal the win.

Wes Otte paced Lawrence in the opener by going 2-for-3. Jared Huntemann went 3-for-4 to lead the Warriors.

Backhaus went the distance in game two, striking out three and walking one. Mike Baumann went five innings, allowing four hits, striking out three and walking one, and took the loss.

Shawn Glasel went 3-for-3 and scored twice to pace the Warriors, who scored four times in the third inning to grab the lead for good.
