PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Lawrence University baseball team wrapped up its spring break trip with a nonconference doubleheader split against Thomas College.

Lawrence (3-5) dropped the opener 8-6 but routed Thomas 15-4 in the nightcap.

The Vikings gave up four runs in the top of the seventh, as Thomas rallied for the win. Lawrence led 4-1 after scoring four times in the bottom of the fourth. Wes Otte belted a run-scoring triple, Doug McEneaney had a RBI double, and Adam Fritsch had a run-scoring single in the inning.

The Terriers tied the game with three runs in the top of the sixth, but Lawrence grabbed the lead right back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning. Otte started the inning with a double and he later scored on Tommy Schmidt's sacrifice fly. Robert Rashid, who reached when he was hit by a pitch, then scored on Tim Salm's double.

Freshman pitcher Andrew Wilt couldn't hang on for the save, as he gave up four runs in the seventh. The big blow was Nicholas Schauwecker's two-run triple.

Otte, McEneaney, and Fritsch all had two hits for the Vikings in the opener.

Lawrence pounded five Thomas pitchers in the nightcap, as the Vikings collected 13 hits in support of starter Alex Fritsch. The Vikings scored in every inning.

Ben Webster went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the nightcap, and Tim Salm and Brent Nathan had two hits apiece.

Webster had a two-run single in the first, as Lawrence grabbed a 2-0 lead. The Vikings added two more runs in the second without the benefit of a base hit, and scored two more in the third, with Nathan's single scoring a run.

Webster had another run-scoring single in the fourth before Thomas got on the board with a run in the bottom half of the inning.

Hawk Haiduke put Lawrence up 9-1 when he drove in two more runs in the fifth with a single. The Vikings added two more runs in the sixth to go up 11-1, and Thomas scored three times in its half of the inning.

The Vikings completed the scoring with four more runs in the seventh, highlighted by Salm's three-run double.
