FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Frank Forseth turned in a stellar pitching performance, and the Lawrence University baseball team earned a nonconference doubleheader split on Tuesday with Carleton College.
Forseth, a senior from Oshkosh, Wis., led Lawrence (3-4) to a 3-1 win in the opener, and Carleton won 11-0 in the nightcap.
Forseth, who picked up a save on Monday, went the distance, scattering seven hits and striking out five.
Forseth allowed a run to Carleton in the first, but the Vikings answered with three runs of their own in the same inning. Eric Bohling delivered a single to score Wes Otte to tie the score, and Luke Kostreva then provided the big blow of the game. His two-run double gave Lawrence a 3-1 lead and finished the scoring.
Carleton (6-10) took advantage of some fielding miscues in the nightcap. Kostreva took the loss but five of the Carleton runs were unearned.
Lawrence collected only five hits in the second game, and the Vikings had only one runner reach as far as third base.
The Vikings wrap up their spring break trip with two games at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Thursday.
