FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Despite getting outhit, the Carleton College baseball team posted a 9-2 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Monday.
Lawrence pounded out 10 hits against four Carleton pitchers, but the Knights had three consecutive big innings to pick up the win.
Reliever Brian Gilbert scattered five hits in four innings and didn't allow a run to pick up the win. Andrew Wilt took the loss for the Vikings.
Lawrence (2-3) led 2-0 in the top of the third after a run-scoring triple from Wes Otte and a RBI double from Hawk Haiduke. Carleton (5-9) countered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, with the big blow coming on Geoff King's two-run single.
Carleton added three more runs in the fourth, two coming on Cameron McDonald-Hyman's two-run double. The Knights added two more runs in the fifth to seal the win.
Otte, Andy Frelich, and Frank Forseth had two hits apiece for the Vikings. McDonald-Hyman went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Knights.
