GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Lawrence University baseball team dropped its season opener with a 7-0 loss to Tufts University on Monday.
The game was played on a neutral field at Guilford College.
Adam Telian limited Lawrence to only four hits in eight innings. He struck out eight and walked one. Billy Bodle paced the Lawrence offense by going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Tufts led 2-0 before breaking the game open with three runs in the fifth. The big blow in the decisive fifth was a two-run homer. Tufts added single runs in the seventh and eighth.
Chris Clouthier went sevent innings for Lawrence and took the loss. He gave up 10 hits, struck out two and didn't walk a batter.
