APPLETON, Wis. -- The University of Chicago put on an impressive hitting display on Saturday and swept a nonconference doubleheader from Lawrence University by the scores of 24-6 and 29-3 at Don Hawkins Field.
In the opener, Chicago (7-6) collected 31 hits. Jack Cinoman went 6-for-6 with four runs batted in to pace the Maroons. Trace Capps and Marshall Oium had four hits apiece, and Capps drove in five runs.
Joe Pankow pitched the first six innings to pick up the win. He struck out seven and didn't walk a batter. Zach Owsley pitched the first four innings and took the loss for Lawrence (1-14).
Andy Frelich went 3-for-4 to pace the Vikings.
In the nightcap, the Marooons scored 18 runs in the first inning and rolled to the win. Cinoman, who had three hits in the first inning, went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle. His home run was a grand slam that capped a nine-run fourth inning.
Luke Kostreva went 3-for-3, including a two-run double, to lead Lawrence in the nightcap.
Dan McConologue pitched the first six innings to get the win. He struck out eight and walked two. John Revis took the loss for the Vikings.
