Each generation of Lawrence students benefits from the generosity of the college’s alumni, parents and friends. Each year about 50 percent of alumni give to the college, a figure that places Lawrence among the top colleges and universities in the country on this important index of alumni loyalty.
Join the Development team in helping Lawrence raise funds that support the college’s exceptional students, faculty and staff.
Most classes have at least one agent, a member of the class who writes classmates encouraging support of The Lawrence Fund. Larger classes have more than one agent, each responsible for a segment of the class. The agent composes the annual fund-raising letter and, if possible, adds a personal note before mailing. Typing, printing, and postage are provided by the Development Office.
Reunion committees plan and conduct solicitation programs seeking financial support of The Lawrence Fund in celebration of milestone and cluster reunions. Committee members determine the class gift goal and strategy, recruit additional committee members, and participate in the solicitation process by making personal telephone calls. The committee is also responsible for planning events, designing communications, networking and hospitality. The committee begins to form about one year in advance of reunion.
Viking Gift Committee
The Viking Gift Committee is a group of alumni who graduated from Lawrence within the last nine years who encourage support of The Lawrence Fund from their peers. The goal of the Viking Gift Committee is to establish a strong pattern of giving to Lawrence among this group.
There is always a need for volunteers to contact others in the Lawrence constituency, personally or by phone, seeking renewal of past support and recruiting new giving club members, especially for The Founders Club ($1,000 or more annually).
