I grew up in Wheaton, IL but soon after entering Lawrence University in 1974, realized Wisconsin was where I wanted to live.  After graduating from Lawrence with a BA in Biology in 1978, I enrolled in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  I received an MS degree in Recreation Resources Management in 1983 and in 1985 became the first Director of Environmental Education at the Bethel Horizons Nature Center in Dodgeville, WI.  After twelve enjoyable years there, I  left to become Director of Björklunden, Lawrence University’s Door County estate, in May of 1997.  This is the job I had dreamed of since I spent my four undergraduate summers working at Björklunden in the mid-seventies.

I have now expanded my dream job to include coordinating LU’s efforts to engage alumni and other key constituencies in a meaningful fashion.  I will give highest priority to working with the Lawrence University Alumni Association and ensure that Lawrence University alumni reunions continue to be first-rate, work closely with the Lawrence University Alumni Association Board of Directors, and work in tandem with members of faculty, staff, and Lawrence students in ongoing programs and new initiatives that promote Lawrence University in ways that are mutually beneficial to the college and alumni.

I will also be able to provide leadership in engaging donors, parents, and members of the community with Lawrence in meaningful ways that support and enhance the University’s existing efforts in these areas.  While I will focus much of my attention on the southern campus and travel nationally in this new role, I will be fortunate enough to be able to continue to serve as the leader of Björklunden and  will work to ensure the northern campus continues to thrive.

My wife, Jane Hillstrom, is president of her own PR firm, daughter Abby attends Lake Forest College and is interested in a career in physical therapy, and son Adam is a senior in high school, enjoying playing football and basketball.  I enjoy reading, running, traveling, and watching old movies.

I graduated from Lawrence in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and minors in Math and Religious Studies. After graduation, I spent a few years in the business world, and was happy to return to Lawrence and join the alumni relations staff in September, 2004. In the alumni office, my main responsibilities include working as staff advisor to the senior class officer program, organizing the 10th and 25th reunions and Reunion Children's Programs, planning regional events, and serving as an ex officio member of the LUAA Board of Directors Student Relations and Nominations and Awards Committees. I also assist with other events and projects.

When I'm not at work, I keep myself very busy enjoying a large number of hobbies and activities. I am a runner, and have completed a couple marathons. I also enjoy other sports, reading, spending time outside, and exploring my creative side through playing the piano or making some sort of craft. One of my greatest loves is travel - for work or pleasure - and I enjoy visiting Lawrence alumni and friends wherever I go.

I graduated from Lawrence University in 2002 with a major in Anthropology. Afterwards I spent three years in Madison working for a non-profit after school program. I supervised six teachers and 64 children a day. After a brief stint "back home" I happily joined the Alumni Relations staff in September of 2007. My responsibilities include organizing a cluster and affinity reunion each year, organizing regional events, directing the class secretary program, and serving as an ex officio member of the LUAA Board of Directors Focus on Community Engagement committee.

As some of you may know, keeping in touch with friends from Lawrence is one of my favorite things to do, so this job is a great fit for me. Family is very important to me, so I am lucky to have my brother, Josh Dukelow '02, working along side me as a Major and Planned Gift officer. My main interests include cooking, reading, and watching sports. Being one of the assistant basketball coaches for the Lawrence women's team also keeps me busy. I enjoy living back in Appleton and taking in any number of entertainment and cultural events.

I started my secretarial career at Lawrence in 1973! (yes . . .) I was originally the
secretary to the vice president of development before moving literally down the hall to work with Jan starting in November of 1998. I thoroughly enjoy greeting alumni either on the phone or in person. The alumni office is a fast-paced operation, and I enjoy the challenges that it brings as well as staying busy and on task. One of the programs that is very time consuming but interesting is the Class Secretary Program. I enjoy producing all the newsletters and reading what each of you has done since leaving Lawrence. I also enjoy getting to know and working with all the various members of the LUAA Board.

In my spare time I enjoy going for walks, golfing, working out, swimming, reading, listening to music and taking in movies, "hanging out" with all our friends, cooking, dining out, traveling, and going for cruises in our '96 red Corvette convertible.

After 26 years in the Student Affairs Division, I transferred to the Alumni Relations Office in October of 2008 as the Alumni Volunteer Coordinator. Many of you will either remember me from the Campus Activities Office or the Dean of Students Office. In my new role, the position will allow me to reconnect with the many alumni I have met over the years - which is only one of the many reasons this job attracted me. My responsibilities include working as the liaison to the admissions office and their initiatives to include alumni volunteers, organizing the 20th cluster reunion, and ex officio member of the LUAA Board of Directors Admissions Committee.

I will continue to advise the Ariel, Mortar Board and Lambda Sigma (which I also serve on the National Board as the convention liaison and treasurer). In my spare time I enjoy reading, golfing, running, traveling, and spending time volunteering at dog agility trials - and no, I am not one of those "Best In Show" people, but pretty darn close! My husband trains and shows all three of our dogs, Maya, Gryffindor Duncan and Cooper. Maya and Duncan are in the agility hall of fame and Maya is a national champion (not to mention that they have been on the cover of a DVD and book and Maya was on the cover of an agility magazine). Cooper is our newest addition and will begin her agility career in the very near future - so maybe I am one of those "Best In Show" people!

On November 20, 1995 I started at Lawrence University in the annual giving office, and I joined the alumni office on October 20, 2008. I am looking forward to meeting and working more closely with alumni in the years ahead. When I was in the annual giving office I worked closely with the reunion gift committees. Now, I will be working on the steering committee side. I have thoroughly enjoyed working during Reunion Weekend over the past 13 years.

My husband (Jim) and I have been married for 20 years and have twins, Kayla and Paul, who are 3 years old. We also have a Bichon Frise named Hailey who is ten years old. I enjoy time with my family and friends; camping, golfing, bowling, reading, gardening, watching baseball and football games, attending local concerts and traveling.
