DOWNER WOMAN OF THE 1990s

STEPHANIE CAROLINE STEPHENS,
L-D '91, the granddaughter of Winifred and daughter of Carolyn, is a third generation Downerite who carries on the tradition of "The True Teacher" and feminine fitness. She majored in Social Studies/Secondary Education at Downer of Lawrence University and taught citizenship and group dynamics in Galatz, Romania, for the Peace Corps. In 2001 she ran the Chicago Marathon and presently teaches Advanced Placement History in her profession at the Chicago Latin School.

Each of us absorbed the Downer heritage of the foremothers and renewed it by attending Downer College. We'd like to recognize the richness and value of our gifts from the past, thank the courageous women who made the way for us, and pass it on to the future Downer Women.
