This committee researches, discusses, and then recommends candidates for our annual alumni awards: Outstanding Service, Distinguished Achievement, and Service to Society. They also nominate candidates for the LUAA Board of Directors and the Lawrence Board of Trustees. Committee members actively research candidates for Achievement and Service to Society awards. This committee is co-chaired by Karl Hickerson '70 and Christine Grupe Knutson '68, and is staffed by Lyndsay Sund '01, Associate Director of Alumni and Constituency Engagement, and Joseph Brooks '03, Director of Alumni and Constituency Engagement.

Missions
The Nominations and Awards Committee recognizes and celebrates alumni achievements through two primary functions: (a) researching the achievement and service records of candidates and recommending them for alumni awards; and (b) recruiting and screening candidates for LUAA Board membership.
Goals
- Solicit, research, and provide a prioritized slate of nominations to the LUAA Board of Directors that maximizes diversity in graduating class, ethnicity, gender, occupation, and geographic location
- Work with the staff to solicit, research, and provide nominations for Lawrence and Milwaukee-Downer’s Outstanding Service Awards:
Gertrude B. Jupp M-D ’18 Award, and the Marshall B. Hulbert ’26 Young Alumni Award - Solicit, research, and provide nominations for Lawrence and Milwaukee-Downer’s Distinguished Achievement Awards: The Lucia R. Briggs Award and the Nathan M. Pusey Young Alumni Award
- Solicit, research, and provide nominations for the George B. Walter ’36 Service to Society Awards
- Promote and increase awareness of awards and award winners within the LU community and beyond
- Encourage the engagement of award recipients within the LU community

- Researched and nominated candidates for alumni achievement and distinguished service awards (annually)
- Recommended new members for the LUAA board of directors (annually)
- Initiated and helped implement new searchable data base on all Lawrence alumni award winners
- Initiated and helped develop brochure (updated annually) about alumni award winners which is distributed in Reunion Weekend packets
- Inaugurated annual reception for alumni award winners with college president and faculty during Reunion Weekend
