There are many opportunities for alumni to become involved in the support of their alma mater. Any one of the paths that is selected will contribute directly to the continuing strength and excellence of the university. Listed below, grouped by program, are general descriptions of opportunities for you to become involved in supporting and strengthening Lawrence. We are grateful for your willingness to explore such a relationship with Lawrence and look forward to a continuing association on the college's behalf.
Alumni Volunteers — Report your hours here
Admissions
Do you remember Freshman Studies, the Grill, or the excitement of finishing your honors project? Here's your chance to reminisce while helping your alma mater.
Alumni volunteers are an intrinsic part of the admissions process. You bring excitement and vitality to the college search process, relating first-hand experiences and sharing your enthusiasm for Lawrence. The claims of satisfied alumni say more about our school than any viewbook ever could.
On these pages, we've outlined some ways to get involved with the admission process, and we hope that you will consider volunteering some of your time. Feel free to contact Linda Fuerst with any questions. We'd love to hear from you.

Careers
Alumni are encouraged to use their life and work experiences to assist current students with career exploration and networking. No special training is required - just a willingness to share your experiences with students interested in your career field, graduate school field of study, or geographic area. Some of the ways alumni can assist the Career Center are:
- Participate in an on-campus career program or panel.
- Notify the Career Center of summer job, internship, and full-time employment opportunities with your employer.
- Identify employers to participate in campus and regional career fairs.
- Supervise an intern in your organization.
- Provide graduate/professional school advice to current students and alumni.
- Encourage employers to schedule on-campus recruiting visits.
- Donate career resource information to the Career Center.
- Participate in a phone or in-person interview to be used in Career Center podcasts.

Development
Class Agents
Most classes have at least one agent, a member of the class who writes classmates
encouraging support of The Lawrence Fund. Larger classes have more than one agent,
each responsible for a segment of the class. The agent composes the annual fund-raising
letter and, if possible, adds a personal note before mailing. (Typing, printing, and
postage are provided by the development office.)

Reunion Gift Committees
Reunion gift committees plan and conduct solicitation programs seeking extraordinary financial support of The Lawrence Fund in celebration of milestone and cluster reunions. Committee members determine the class gift goal and strategy, recruit additional committee members, and participate in the solicitation process by making personal telephone calls.

Viking Gift Committee
The Viking Gift Committee is a group of alumni who graduated from Lawrence within
the last nine years that encourage support of The Lawrence Fund from their peers. The goal
of the Viking Gift Committee is to establish a strong pattern of giving to Lawrence among this group of alumni. Participation is the key. The time commitment is only 5-10 hours per year,
but the impact the Viking Gift Committee has, does Lawrence a world of good.
The responsibilities of committee members:
- Choose 10-15 classmates (2001-2009)
- Call or e-mail your classmates and ask them for a gift.
Contact: Kate Hatlak ’08, 800-283-8320 Ext. 6552, or 920-832-6552.

Other Opportunities
There is always a need for volunteers to contact others in the Lawrence constituency,
personally or by phone, seeking renewal of past support and recruiting new giving club
members, especially for The Founders Club ($1,000 or more annually).

Alumni Relations
Regional Event Volunteers
There are twelve primary Alumni Regions around the country:
Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fox Valley, Los Angeles, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul,
New York, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Area. Many of these
regions are served by volunter program coordinators, who work closely with the alumni office
to carry out fun and effective programs each year, usually in coordination with a faculty
or president visit to the region. The goal of these programs is to provide an
opportunity for all alumni in the region to maintain close continuing relations with
Lawrence as well as to develop closer associations with other alumni, parents, and friends
of the university in the area. If you live outside of the primary Alumni Regions, we
encourage you to suggest ideas and help coordinate break-even events in your area which
feature local alumni as speakers, presenters, performers, or guides.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our annual young alumni "Welcome to Our City" events. View the Welcome to Our City Planning Guide, for more information on this event.
Contact: The Alumni Office, 800-283-8320 Ext. 6549, or 920-832-6549.
Reunion Steering Committees
Volunteers from each class celebrating a reunion make the critical difference between a
highly successful reunion (i.e. many classmates returning) and just an average affair.
It makes no difference where you live, for there is something everyone can do! The committee
is responsible for planning events, designing communications, networking, and hospitality.
The tasks do not require an overwhelming amount of time, and alumni in the past have
commented on how much fun it was to be a part of the planning and promotion of their reunion.
The committee begins to form about one year in advance. View the
future class reunion schedule to see when your next
reunion will be.
Contact: The Alumni Office, 800-283-8320 Ext. 6549, or 920-832-6549.
Class Secretary
Each class has one or two members who take responsibility for communicating with their
classmates annually seeking news for either their class newsletter (published every other
year), Voyager for Alumni or the class notes section of
Lawrence Today (published four times a year). The alumni office provides full
support for the printing, mailing, and e-mailing of all communications from the class
secretary to his/her classmates.
Contact: The Alumni Office, 800-283-8320 Ext. 6549, or 920-832-6549.
Alumni Association Board of Directors
This is a group of alumni elected to serve one four-year term as a result of their high
level of volunteer leadership on Lawrence's behalf. The board meets twice a year on campus
to plan and review programs that involve alumni in support of the university. Board members
are the leadership body of the Alumni Association; as such, they represent the alumni
constituency, working with the Lawrence faculty and administration to advance the mission
and purposes of the university.
