Who is your favorite professor at LU? |
My favorite teacher is Brigetta Miller in the Music ed department. Her classes are taught in a hands-on way instead of sitting and taking notes. We do a lot of peer teaching which helps to receive feedback from peers. |
What one thing would you say is “The Lawrence Difference”? |
I would say “The Lawrence Difference” is the close-knit community we have. If you tell your friends from home how many people go to Lawrence, they will usually make a face and ask you how you can stand it. Actually, as small as LU is, it doesn’t feel that small. You have enough freedom as a student to explore your choices and make your own decisions. |
What is an interesting/helpful fact you learned about LU after you came here? |
People always warned me that professors in college wouldn’t care or be sensitive to any problems, like high school teachers. But at Lawrence, that is not the case. Professors are concerned with your well being and if you give them enough notice (usually via e-mail which is the most prominent source of communication) can be very accommodating. |

Which is your favorite resident hall? |
Sage Hall. I lived there my freshman year and it made me feel at home the first day I moved in. It is a big hall, but the floors are divided so it seems smaller. I had an amazing view of the river from my room. It also has an elevator which I did not realize how convenient it is until I lived in a dorm without one. |
Where is your favorite study spot? |
In the fall and spring, it is outside on main hall green under a tree usually in front of Ormsby. When it’s too cold to be outside or its raining, I like to work in one of the side rooms with the old furniture in the library. Its usually very quiet but if you go with friends, its okay to chat in between studying. |
What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton? |
Probably go to the PAC and see a show. It’s a beautiful new performing arts center that resembles famous halls in New York City. |

If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose? |
Midnight Milkyway. It is not too sweet because of the dark chocolate, but it still creamy and delicious. |
What is an uncommon hobby you have, and why do you like it? |
I really like to knit and I usually do it wherever I go. I also like to do word and number puzzles. I really enjoy problem solving, so brain teasers are fun for me. |
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself? |
I have learned to do things on my own and to take the consequences for my own actions. I think since college I have made less excuses for incomplete work and skipping things. I learned that even if you really can’t bring yourself to do something, it’s college so you kind of have to. |
