Who is your favorite professor at LU?

Julie Lindemann & John Shimon of the Studio Art Department. Their ability to inspire the work of their students and their effort towards our success has truly made me the artist I am today. The work done in their class has made me take a different look at the world of art and the availability within the field.

What is the best course you’ve taken at LU?

The Photography Series. The professors really explained the different processes thoroughly and the equipment the university provides really allows the students to experiment with different processes and mediums.

Which is your favorite resident hall?

Sage. Because you have the capability of an open-door surrounding where you can get to know all of your neighbors and form a community within the dorm. You also can live with students of every class.

What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year?

To surprise me on my birthday, my roommate and some of her friends bought me a few bags of tootsie pops and blow pops and stuck them in the holes in my ceiling. When I got home from my game I had surprises to snack on for the next few weeks. It was hilarious and a fun chance to bond with my roommate.

What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton?

I love to go to Timberrattlers games (the local minor league baseball team). It’s a fun opportunity to hang out with Lawrentians outside campus and also to meet the local Appleton folk.

What is an uncommon hobby you have, and why do you like it?

Photography. I love to take film wherever I can. I know we are in a digital phase, but I love the serenity of the darkroom and the antics of working with the chemicals and developing my own film. I like being responsible for everything.

What is something LU helped you learn about yourself?

LU taught me to explore my liberal ideals as an artist. I’ve also gotten to experience the different mediums of art through other artists and I got to find my true calling in life by being able to experience different classes throughout the university. If it wasn’t mandatory to take the gen eds throughout the college, I wouldn’t have experience the true art ideals, therefore exposing my true passion.
