Favorite film:

I love the black and white classics, but sometimes there’s nothing better than a chick flick.

Favorite song, artist, or group:

John Mayer is somehow the soundtrack to my life. I’m also a sucker for cheesy pop from the 90s. Nsync anyone?

Who is your favorite professor at LU?

Ed Kern, History and Annette Thornton, Theater Arts. Prof. Kern is passionate about what he does and is one of the most knowledgeable professors I’ve had a class with. His discussions and lectures are engaging and both academically interesting and fun at the same time. Prof. Thornton is a wonderful addition to our theater department and has totally revolutionized my experiences as a theater major. Her approach to teaching and mentoring students is very refreshing and her constant interest in promoting independent student productions is a great thing. She is warm to everyone and feeds encouragement to her students in their academic and personal lives. She offers herself outside of the classroom for coaching sessions, extra rehearsals, and the ever-popular coffee date at Brewed Awakenings.

What one thing would you say is “The Lawrence Difference”?

I think there is a very special energy in our students and professors that set us apart from other colleges and universities. Our entire campus population is interested in so many things and we get really excited about what we’re interested in. That excitement is palpable on campus and it’s great to see all the different interests mingling together. I love being able to enjoy physics presentations in the Science Atrium as well as hearing beautiful music in Harper or the Chapel.

Which is your favorite resident hall?

I love Ormsby Hall because the rooms are HUGE and all different shapes and sizes. Ormsby is also great because of the hardwood floors and walk in closets. It has a lot of character and feels very homey. The main lounge is also a beautiful place to read in the big bay window.

What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year?

Rolly-Chair races! We each had desk chairs that rolled and one afternoon had a race around the hallway with prizes at the end.

Where is your favorite study spot?

I love the third and fourth floor of the library. It’s a great place to get lost in the stacks and never see a single person. There are lots of great little corners in the library that are hidden from computers, people, and traffic. When I feel like a little distraction, the first floor of the library by the huge windows is a great place to people-watch and feel the sunlight shining through.

If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Snickers – amidst all the chocolate and caramel there is a little bit of energy and protein in the peanuts. It’s the one candy bar that can arguably be a legitimate meal during finals week.

What was your favorite theme party thrown this year at LU, and what did you dress as?

10 Minute Dance Parties in Colman Hall. Every Tuesday we had a themed dance party and we kicked it off with “Underwear on the Outside”. Everyone wore their regular street clothes, but with “underwear on the outside”.
