What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission? |
I fell in love with the campus, and the conservatory especially. When I visited LU for the first time, I loved how each building looked different—I found other campuses that had the same architecture for all their buildings to be very boring. I think the campus is fantastic—the buildings, all the green space, and the fact that it’s small and compact. I feel right at home. |
What one thing would you say is “The Lawrence Difference”? |
One thing that definitely is “The Lawrence Difference” is the quality of our professors. Not only are they extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields, but they really care about the students and make themselves available to them. They encourage the students to contact them or visit them in their offices, and they develop personal relationships with each of the students. The result is a comfortable, motivated learning environment that encourages growth. |

What is something you wish you would have brought with you freshman year? |
A COFFEE POT. A nice jolt of caffeine helps get you through those 8:30 classes. |
Downer, Lucy’s, or Union Grill, and Downer dining room A, B, or C? |
Hmm…Downer for dinner and Union Grill for late night study snacks. Then I would definitely have to say Downer dining room B, because it’s still on the first floor but it’s also out of the way of the busier sections of the cafeteria. |
What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton? |
Go to a show at the P.A.C. Walking into that theatre makes you feel like you’re in the big city. I’m from Minneapolis and I love going downtown to see shows, and the P.A.C. makes me feel like I’m back at home. |

If you were a crayon or paint swatch, what color would you be? |
I would be grass green. It’s so vibrant and alive, and it’s my favorite color. |
If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose? |
Definitely Snickers…it’s an original! What’s not to love about peanuts, caramel, nougat, and chocolate all in one bar? It’s so good. Dangerously good, really. |
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself? |
LU taught me that I can only get out of life what I put into it. Sure, you can get by doing the bare minimum in classes, relationships, and activities, but where’s the fun in that? Taking care of yourself and putting effort, energy, and focus into those things reaps huge rewards in time. The result will be a stronger, happier, well-rounded person. |
