What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission? |
I can double major, get an Education Certification, and study abroad in 4 years? They weren’t kidding. I also wanted a school were I could be involved in a lot of campus groups and continue dancing since I have danced since I was three. The small learning environment was equally important and I have found that the musicality of the school is another added bonus. |
Who is your favorite professor at LU? |
Rosa Tapia, Spanish Department. Rosa is very intelligent, and quite intimidating, but beneath everything she is compassionate about her students. I am studying abroad in a city not far from her home town in Spain so it has been really interesting to really appreciate her knowledge and talents from afar. |
What is an interesting/helpful fact you learned about LU after you came here? |
Independent studies and Tutorial classes are very easy to obtain. It is a simple matter of finding a professor that shares your passion on a topic and is willing to sign a small sheet of paper. Then the professor might even have you over for dinner! |
What is your favorite part about being a Lawrentian? |
The people. I can have very interesting and philosophical conversations with Lawrentians that for some reason I cannot have with my friends back home. Also, whenever I have traveled during breaks or summer, I always run into someone from Lawrence. |

What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year? |
I have to choose one? Probably a few days into our new life at Lawrence when we were talking about if it was normal to feel so comfortable with a complete stranger in such little time and that home was the last place we wanted to be. Ironically we are still roommates and are both on the Student Calling Team… |
Downer, Lucy’s, or Union Grill, and Downer dining room A, B, or C? |
Lucy’s is clearly the correct choice here. Two words: homemade desserts |
Where is your favorite study spot? |
When it is Spring Term I love to study on Union Hill or on my roommate’s lawn blanket because they spray pesticide on the grass. |

If you were a fruit, which would you be? |
I’m not really much like a banana, but I’m pretty sure my body is composed of 34% bananas at this point. I ate two many bananas one day at Lawrence and therefore I advise against it. The best place to get bananas on campus is Downer Room A. In Spain they are called plátanos. There is also an abundance of banana ice cream here. |
What is an uncommon hobby you have, and why do you like it? |
I paint record covers. I collect old record covers from the Thrift Shoppe and alter the images with acrylic paint. They make great wall hangings. |
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself? |
Being away from Lawrence and in Spain has taught me that I am a very driven person because of Lawrence. I have clear goals and I know exactly how to pursue them in any environement. |
