Who is your favorite professor at LU? |
Professor Boelyn-Fitzgerald in the philosophy department is amazing. I’ve taken several of his classes such as Biomedical Ethics and Meditation and Virtue. He always breaks concepts down so that they are fun, interesting and intriguing at the same time. He uses hilarious examples and creates a community environment in the classroom where anyone is free to express their thoughts. I always come out of class with new questions about life and am constantly astounded at how much enjoyment it can bring! |
What is the best course you’ve taken at LU? |
Developmental Psychology. It was one of the hardest classes that I’ve taken, but Professor Haines is excellent and hardcore. It’s a tough class, but being pushed to achieve the best makes you realize how much information you can actually retain, and the benefits that come with that. It’s the first psychology class that really allowed me to gain true insight into how the field thinks and works. |
What is an interesting/helpful fact you learned about LU after you came here? |
There is always a place to find what you need. Lawrence has a ton of resources on campus; all you have to do is look for them. The Career center helps you out with resumes, job hunts, and a lot more. The volunteer office knows of a ton of great opportunities in Appleton and on campus. And professors are always willing to help you out. No matter the question there is usually at least one person on campus that can answer it for you. |

What is something you wish you would have brought with you freshman year? |
I brought WAY too much stuff freshman year. But things that I’ve found handy to have around are a dust buster, tool box, electric tea kettle, and a flower vase. |
Where is your favorite study spot? |
I usually study in my room, or a café- Brewed Awakenings, Starbucks, Copper Rock, Harmony Café, you name it. There’s a lot of variety down College Ave. And when the weather gets nice, reading in a park is always a treat! |
What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton? |
I like taking walks in Appleton in the spring and fall and sometimes winter (depending on how cold it is). The paths by the river and the parks are really nice. I love being around nature, and in company of good people plus it’s always a nice escape. |

If you were a crayon or paint swatch, what color would you be? |
Periwinkle. It’s not quite blue, but not quite purple, kind of like a bluer version of lavender. I’ve always found it to be a calming color, very serene and comforting. It’s a nice in between color with a sweet name that rhymes with twinkle, which reminds me of stars and those are always nice. |
If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose? |
Reese’s Pieces or Cups, either one. I have always been an obsessed peanut butter fan, you combine that with chocolate and occasionally coat it like an M &M and I’m golden, totally set for life. |
What is an uncommon hobby you have, and why do you like it? |
I love holidays! On any given holiday, usually the ones associated with candy, I always make treat bags (sometimes with cards) stock piled with candy to hand out to people, elementary school style. I guess I started then and haven’t stopped since. It’s one of my favorite things to do! |
