What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission? |
When I came to visit the campus, I just felt completely comfortable walking around and new that this is where I would be able to grow. Everyone in the admissions staff was very friendly and I felt accepted as a unique individual, not just a numbered applicant. It was that personal attention and connection that made me recognize LU as a place where I could build strong relationships during my academic career here. |
What is the best course you’ve taken at LU? |
My favorite course was Developmental Biology. In addition to learning about the molecular processes of the early stages of animal development, the hands-on experience we had during our laboratory sessions was just phenomenal. We were able to observe live embryos of zebrafish, chicks, and frogs and perform micro-surgeries using dissecting microscopes. |
What one thing would you say is “The Lawrence Difference”? |
“The Lawrence Difference” is being able to do 30 hours worth of school work/activities in a 24 hour day. |

What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year? |
My roommate and I got along really well! We had a lot of fun times doing random crazy things like decorating our walls with coloring book pictures, waxing our legs, having long movie marathons, snacking on endless boxes of Goldfish crackers at 1am, etc. She also got engaged at the end of freshman year, so it was fun watching her plan her wedding! |
Where is your favorite study spot? |
Usually I study in my room, but I also enjoy studying in the student lounge in Shattuck Hall above the Chapel. Not many students know about it, so it’s a really nice “secret” study spot—now you all know about it! The floating lounge in the Science Hall Atrium is another fun place to study. |

If you were a fruit, which would you be? |
I would be a Chinese lychee fruit. They have a tough and bland outer skin which usually makes people overlook them, but inside they are really sweet! |
If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose? |
I would never get sick of eating a Snickers bar. It is just such a classic candy bar. You can never go wrong with a chocolate, peanut, caramel combination. Plus, it provides protein from the peanuts, so it’s filling and nutritious, right? |
What was your favorite theme party thrown this year at LU, and what did you dress as? |
The Lawrence Swing Dancers actually hosted a charity dance where all money raised went to the USO. It was titled “Home from the War” so we all dressed up in vintage 40s swing outfits. Us girls even went to the salon to have our hair done in 40s style up-dos. It was a ton of fun! |
