Who is your favorite professor at LU?

It is almost impossible for me to narrow it down to 1 professor, so my top 3 favorite professors are Phillip Swan (Women’s Choir Conductor), Steven McCardell (Music Theory), and Mr.Bjella (Concert Choir Conductor). I love Mr. Swan and Mr. McCardell because they were my professors during the first two years of college when I had no idea what I was doing! They were like mentors to me and encouraged me to follow my dreams despite the obstacles. Mr. Bjella has an infectious passion for music that attacks anyone within a 20 miles radius! His enthusiasm and hard work remind me daily of why music is so special.

What is the best course you’ve taken at LU?

The best course that I’ve taken was the Topics in Astronomy course with physics professor Megan Pickett. She’s amazing and smart, and made Astronomy cool again. Being from the inner-city, It was nearly impossible to stargaze, but with this course I would stargaze all night and ponder the mysteries of the universe.

Downer, Lucy’s, or Union Grill, and Downer dining room A, B, or C?

I like Downer and I always eat in Downer dining room B, because it’s where most of the Conservatory students go to eat.

Where is your favorite study spot?

The Library

What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton?

Going to a coffeehouse to order a hot drink and listening to cool jazz.

If you were a fruit, which would you be?

I would be a pomegranate because I am made up of millions of characteristics, quirks, hobbies, dreams, goals, etc, and each one is just as juicy as the next.

What is something LU helped you learn about yourself?

Lu has taught me that you need both work and play to be successful. While it might seem tempting to work all the time, it’s really in those relaxing moments that you build life-long relationships with professors and friends, and practically use all the information you’ve been learning in class.
