What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission? |
My tour definitely sealed the deal on making my decision. I was very unsure of where I wanted to go to school, until I actually came to Lawrence and toured. From there, it was a no brainer. |
Who is your favorite professor at LU? |
Karen Hoffmann is the bomb! She was my professor second term last year and will be my academic advisor come this winter for my English major. She really kicked my butt in gear and showed me that I can analyze literature, even if I was terrible at it before. |
What is the best course you’ve taken at LU? |
“Performance of Literature” with Lawrence University’s own Richmond Frielund. |

What is something you wish you would have brought with you freshman year? |
A coat rack! I had coats and hats and scarves EVERYWHERE in my room and it was a mess last year! You can bet that I will not be making this same mistake again. |
Downer, Lucy’s, or Union Grill, and Downer dining room A, B, or C? |
If I’m feeling creative- Downer C. It’s always less crowded. And the view out the windows is nice. Otherwise I’m all about the Grill. |
Where is your favorite study spot? |
Third floor, Library. Over by the windows that overlook Downer – hardly anyone goes there and it’s nice and open. Great place to spread out and achieve some goals. |

If you were a crayon or paint swatch, what color would you be? |
Probably “sun god,” which is the name of the paint that is on the walls in my room. I have a “basement apartment” at my parent’s house, and I did all the painting and woodwork and good stuff like that. When I come home, it’s the first place I go, and that color has a very calming effect on me. I like it a lot. |
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself? |
Being here has definitely shown me that I’m not as efficient and productive as I thought I was in high school. It was sort of a slap in the face, but definitely a much needed wake-up call. I’ve definitely improved on those aspects of myself and at this point, it can only get better as I progress! |
