What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission?: The Community. When I came to visit, I saw how happy and kind the people were. Everyone here is very helpful and welcoming. It didn't seem fake, I could tell that the personality, or vibe, of a Lawrentian was a group I could see myself with.
Who is your favorite professor (and their department) at LU? Why?: My favorite professor is Professor Patrick Boleyn-Fitzgerald. He is so intelligent and such an easy person to learn from. He is also extremely helpful in and outside of class. He makes me interested in what I am learning and truly challenges my arguments, thoughts, and opinions.
What is the best course (and its department) that you have taken? Why?: The best coarse by far is Genetics. Professor Beth De Stasio is an amazing teacher. She makes genetics very interesting. Everything she teaches is so detailed and intricate. It also has real-life application which I love. Genetics really helped me put all of my Biology knowledge together, and has made me appreciate the major all over again.
What is your favorite part about being a Lawrentian?: Actually, study groups. I have never had a better time studying than being here. Every Lawrence student is extremely busy, and we all know that everyone has a lot of work to do. That is why it is so great when friends come together to study, whether we are in the same class or not. It is great to share our intellect with each other.
Which is your favorite resident hall? Why?: I have lived in three halls, and so far my favorite is Sage. The hall provides a unique atmosphere and the people are always great. My favorite upperclassmen dorm would have to be Big and Small Exec. I love the execs. I love having your own bathroom, a full size fridge, a microwave, a sink, a huge closet, and furniture. It is the next best thing to an apartment.
What do you find most exciting about the new Campus Center?: There is always something going on in the CC. DJs, Musicians, singers, movies, comedians, Karaoke, any much more. It is fun to be able to come to the campus center to relax, and also have food here and study places.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?: One word. SOMERSET!! Best room in the Campus Center. It is the perfect place to study. Everyone can chill in a nice warm environment. 2 of the walls are all windows overlooking the Fox River. It is a beautiful view in a beautiful room. Comfy chairs and couches with outlets along the floor. It is such a nice place to be.
What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton?: I love going to see a performance at the Performing Art Center. It is so close to campus and Lawrence Student get deals on tickets a lot of times. It is great to spend a Sunday afternoon seeing an off-Broadway show. Definitely one of my favorite past times.
If you were a fruit, which would you be? Why?: Although there are several crazy fruits I could have chosen, I would be a pomegranate. They are a complicated fruit that are difficult to eat without having to eat the whole seed. They also carry the title of "superfruit" because they are packed with antioxidants. I am a complicated soul that may be sweet but I can be difficult to handle. I'm also super. Since I want to go into the medical field, I should be a fruit that is really good for you.
If you were a crayon or paint swatch, what color would be you? Why?: Sunrise Orange. I love the color orange. I think it is such a vibrant color that just adds life. I actually have my room at home painted orange. Everything is just brighter and happier when the color orange is involved.
If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose?: Snickers.. It's a Feast. I love everything about a snickers bar. It has all the right ingredients like peanuts, caramel, and chocolate. It's just the perfect treat. It has always been my favorite candy bar.
What was your favorite theme party thrown this year at LU, and what did you dress as?: Beta Beach Bash all the way. Beta brings in sand and covers the Beta house basement with about 6 inches of sand. Then the make a boardwalk that goes across the sandy dance floor. It is in the fall towards then end so it starts to get cold outside. But everyone wears their beach stuff and has a blast, giving one last hoorah to summer. I wore my swimsuit and some flip flops. Danced till dawn. Best party by far.
