What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission? As an international student I was a bit apprehensive about coming to a place far away from home and I worried about how comfortable I would be in this new environment and if I could manage. However, after talking to a few international student, some I knew and some I didn't know before, I realized how comfortable and excited they seemed when they told me about there different experiences, such as their settling in process, their classes, their residence life etc. It was then I realized that Lawrence was the place for me!
Who is your favorite professor (and their department) at LU? Why? Professor Skran, in the Government department, is one of my favourite professors. She is a walking New York Times and then some. Apart from being a wonderful professor in class, she also has a wonderful personality outside of the classroom. She is very approachable and easy to get along with.
What is the best course (and its department) that you have taken? Why? I would have to say the best course that I have taken is Chinese. This is by far the most challenging subject that I have ever taken, however, learning the language, as well as learning about the Chinese culture, is very interesting and exciting. I would also have to say that my chinese professor, Jane Yang, had a lot to do with my newly developed love for Chinese. She was always available and very helpful and even made it a lot easier than it seemed.
What one thing would you say is “The Lawrence Difference”? Freshman Studies! Freshman Studies is a very unique course and I believe it is one of the aspects of Lawrence which contributes to "The Lawrence Difference." I really enjoyed taking this course because I got to explore different subject areas and read books that I probably never would have read otherwise. At the end of it I felt as if I had accomplished something; I could now boast about having read works by Einstein and Plato! At the same time I was terrified of the sciences but managed to pull through Ridley's "The Agile Gene." Freshman studies helps Lawrence students to broaden their horizon and think outside the box. It is the perfect opportunity to explore new options!
What is your favorite part about being a Lawrentian? Lawrence has a very diverse student population for such a small campus and I am extremely excited about being a part of that population. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures. I believe that all Lawrentians have the opportunity to learn something from everyone on this campus and I must say I have learnt quite a bit from other students since I have been here. Therefore, the diversity would have to be my favorite part of Lawrence.

What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year? Late-night stress-relieving sing-alongs! I thought I was pretty diverse when it came to music but my roommate took the cake! I quickly learned to appreciate other genres of music that I'd never, ever heard back home. When we had mid-terms and finals and the stress was beginning to come on, I could count on my roommate to put on Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" to make it all better!
What is something you wish you would have brought with you freshman year? I wish I brought my camcorder from home. I would have really loved to document the seasons as they changed as well as the horrified look on my face when I saw snow for the first time! I was never able to appreciate the seasons until I came here since back home we have summer all year round.
What do you find most exciting aout the new Campus Center? Overall, I love how student-friendly it is. For example we have a corner store, the mail room which serves as our post office, a place to study 24/7, the cinema with awesome movies and, of course GREAT FOOD! This new campus centre makes me not have to want for anything!
What is your favorite study spot on campus? The Somerset Room (in the campus centre). It has a gorgeous view of the river and very comfortable couches and chairs as well!

If you were a fruit, which would you be? Why? I would have to be a papaya! Papayas are very colorful fruits which totally match my personality. Once you get pass the visual and take a bite, you're not just satisfied, but ecstatic with what you've tasted. Like the papaya, there is much more to me than meets the eye and you will not be disappointed! Last but not least the papaya has somewhere between 100 to 400 seeds! Imagine planting them all in different places! This characteristic is compatible with me because I love to explore different places and I always try to leave a "fruitful" impression!
If you could only eat one type of candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Snickers! To begin with, Snickers is one of the most diverse candy bars: chocolate, peanuts, caramel and nougat. Plus, you get to sing that groovy song from the advertisement everytime you eat it:Happy Peanuts Soar…
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself? LU helped me to better realize the kind of personality that I have. I had always been outgoing and tried to be as diverse as possible, especially with groups that I have joined in the past, but because of LU's large variety of activities I realized just how diverse I'd become. I have joined groups that I cannot find in my country such as Model UN, Swing Dancing and SWAHP (volunteering) and last year I was also a residence life advisor which enabled me to communicate with a lot of different people.
