Majors: Geology
Minors: Environmental Studies
Concentrations: Native American Studies
Extra-curriculars: Lawrence University Community Council (LUCC), LUNA (LU Native Americans), ERC (Environmental Responsibility Committee), Committee on Diversity Affairs (CODA), Crocheters and Knitters of Lawrence (CKL)
On-campus Jobs: Admissions
Favorite Book: Fool's Crow - James Welch
Favorite Film: Pride and Prejudice (with Matthew McFadyen)
Favorite Song, Artist, or Group: Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum (in that order)
What was the final factor that made you say "yes" to LU's offer of admission?: The community vibe I felt while on campus. I felt accepted when I visited Lawrence for Admitted Student Days. I thought I was going to be a loner but the people who were part of that day made me feel like I belonged to campus.
Who is your favorite professor (and their department) at LU? Why?: Marcia Bjornerud from the Geology department. It's very obvious she knows her stuff and she's the reason I became a geology major. I love her teaching style and she's very approachable.
What is the best course (and its department) that you have taken? Why?: I had an independent study called "Tribal Environmental Policies" it was designed by myself and a history professor. It was extremely important to me in molding my post-Lawrence plans.
What is your favorite part about being a Lawrentian?: Going anywhere on campus and feeling like you belong. You can go to one organization's meeting and offer an opinion and it's accepted. Or, you can take your cup of coffee in Somerset room and study and knowing that it's your favorite place to be. Or, you could be in the library studying and see a friend and ask to study at the same table with them even if your majors are completely different. I love being able to feel like the campus is my home, everyday.
What is your fondest memory of your roommate from freshman year?: There are three years worth of memories because we are still roommates!
What is something you wish you would have brought with you freshman year?: Hangers. It's a little thing that you forget about until you unpack your clothes and you realize that your wardrobe is missing something.
What do you find most exciting about the new Campus Center?: Going to the Cafe at any time of the day for any reason. You can go for a cup of coffee before class at 8 am, go for study time in the afternoon, or meet with your friends late at night for a midnight snack.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?: Somerset room! It's so open and you can be in the sun. It's very quiet (most of the time).
What is your favorite thing to do in Appleton?: Go to the mall with my friends. It's an adventure to be immersed with the Appleton community.
If you were a fruit, which would you be? Why?: Starfruit! Because stars shine even if you can't see them. I've gained the confidence to grow as a person even if others can't see it.
If you were a crayon or paint swatch, what color would be you? Why?: Native Sunset. It would be a purple-ish orange color because purple and orange can't physically be put together but the concept is unique.
What is an uncommon hobby you have? Why do you like it?: I like to make lists. It helps me to be organized with all the activities I'm involved in.
What is something LU helped you learn about yourself?: I've been able to go out of my comfort zone to find the new zones of comfort. For example, LUCC. I never thought that I'd be part of one the major groups on campus - the student government, which is so much more. I've learned to overcome my fear of speaking in front of a group and I've learned to listen to others when they have a problem that needs confronting.
