International Resources | International Applicants | International Financial Aid
Lawrence enrolls students who have challenged themselves in high school/secondary school, who express themselves well both orally and in writing, and who are imaginative, energetic, and willing to become active members of a learning community. Financial aid is available to international students at Lawrence. However, your application is most competitive for admission if you have at least $15,000 USD available for your education each year.
Apply
You can apply online electronically or download an application. Lawrence does not usually mail printed materials or applications to international addresses. Please notify our office, however, if you are unable to access any necessary information or forms.
We do accept attested (copied and notarized) and/or faxes of transcripts and test results. However, we require that you mail us the original document(s) as well as an English translation. We reserve the right to request all originals at any stage in the admissions process.
Deadlines
If you are applying for financial aid and/or scholarships you should apply through Regular Decision (January 15). If you are not applying for financial aid, you can also apply Early Decision or Early Action. Since we have a limited number of vacancies and scholarships for international students, priority consideration is given to those who complete their application by January 15. We will continue to accept applications, however, as long as there are openings in the class. Please remember it is to your advantage to complete your application before January 15 and preferably by January 1.
A TOEFL, IELTS or other English aptitude score (such as from the SAT test) is required of all international students whose native language is not English, or whose previous instruction was not in English.
Students with scores lower than these figures tend to have a difficult time with the academic rigor of Lawrence. Lawrence's code for both the SAT and TOEFL is 1398.
The International Student Financial Aid Forms are required of all international applicants. Federal regulations require that you must provide documentation showing the ability to afford the educational expenses you will incur for all four years of university attendance. Therefore, as part of the admissions process, you must demonstrate that you have funds available for your education as a part of the admissions process.
In addition to the International Student Financial Aid Forms, you must submit supporting documents verifying this information. Supporting documents could include (but are not limited to):
We do accept attested (copied and notarized) and/or faxed copies of financial documents. However, if you are admitted, we require that you mail us the original document(s) as well as an English translation. We reserve the right to request all originals at any stage in the admissions process.
